What if they had ceramic mugs you could take with a deposit. Think glass deposits for milk at the grocery store. Initial fee of $2-5 added to your tab, bring it back (they'll wash/sanitize it) and take a new one for no cost or get your deposit back. OR BRING YOUR OWN MUG and/or food storage supplies (for restaurants!)

It is important as a consumer to be aware of our decisions financially and support businesses who make sustainable choices... but don't you think we should be making the same decisions with our time? How many minutes exactly does it take to wash a dish? Where are you spending those precious seconds later when you are not doing your dishes in your free time?

2 questions/comments from the Facebook page (facebook.com/carrotmob):

1) is organic corn-based available? regular corn is usually genetically modified.

2) Polylactic acid used to make these plastic DOES biodegrade (albeit slowly) but if accidentally put into the recycling stream will foul regular plastics when they are pelletized, rendering the recycled plastic mix useless - ALSO - the debate of using food for fuel carries onto here - why use food for packaging?
